Hi,
I am presently looking at a possible motorsport project for a Diesel car. At the moment I am trying to decide which car to go with regarding weight, power, track etc etc.

Can anyone tell me the weight of a Mk4 D and SDI Polo and the track, length etc.

Also what are the official power outputs of both or are they the same at 64BHP.

I will be back with more info if the Polo comes out as our choice of Weapon.

Thanks,

The polo 1994-1999 has a 64BHP 1.9D Engine which is very mechanical and cant really be tuned via remaps. The polo from 2000> has a 1.9 SDI engine which can be remapped and would be a better choice however i think the 110/130 engine would be a bit better for a track car

Get one of the newer TDi units. 130 or 150 bhp engines should be easy to come by. Remaps can give good power increases on these engines.

I forgot to mention Turbo's are not allowed.

It is for 1400cc petrol where the ECU can be remapped or up to 2000cc non turbo Diesels.
Engine and gearbox etc must be standard to the car and can not be modified.
No one is running a Diesel at the moment and I am just looking into the possibility of running one. I am not a good enough driver to win but should be able to get in the top 20-30 so just looking for the best diesel package and see if it worth all the expence to be different.

They all seem to put out about 64BHP so it comes down to weight and handling (track, wheel base etc). We can play with the pump etc so hope to get a few more horses out of it.

The SDI´s can be tuned, I did with mine
A few small mod´s and still N.A!!
64hp for my AEY coded engine is original.
Now with 88,8hp.
Take a look in my project for the dyno results 8)
