New Project.

hey everybody!

firstly, appologies for my absense! i've been rather busy since E38, what with going back to college for my final year etc.

so i thought i'd bring you up to speed. as some of you know, i was after a second car to use as a daily run around, second project and to use in stead of the G40 to keep the G40 locked in the garage and carry on tidying the G40 up to a concours standard.

so, what did i buy? well, my first thought for a second car would be a mk4 polo 16v, or a mk3 golf. then at E38 nearly every other car was a mk4 polo or a mk3 golf. everything has been done with them! so what is next? well, one car i can't remember seeing at the show, was a vento! once i got back, i was set on getting one, and just a couple of miles away, u stumbled on a vento CL with 48K and full VW service history. its a 1.8 so its not going to break any speed records but it also won't break the bank!

firstly, here are some picks of the new motor:

So, whats are my options for modifying? wellas its a daily drive, i still want it to be practical so no complete slamming and deep splitters.

so i went and bought a golf VR6 chin spoiler to improve the front end, only to find that although golfs and ventos are the same car apart from headlights, grill and bonnet and the big behind. it turns out the bumpers differ by about an inch! as i found out:

so now, i need to find the part numbers of the vento VR6 chin spoiler as my dealer doesn't have the numbers and can't find them! :?
Anyone able to help?

also, today i have fitted audi TT pedals as the rubbers on there were getting a bit worn!

comments welcome!

you should be able to just chop the centre edge of each side off at the correct length then epoxy them back togeteher with a re inforcing strip on the back

can't be done! the splitter has clips going along the length of the bumper. you can't chop the middle out as the clips then won't line up! trust me, i thought of that!

@Pettsy

nice looking vento you have there! those part numbers you quote, are they def for the vento vr6? does the splitter differ in looks from the golf vr6 splitter?

Should be fitting some 14" teardrops to mine, the current wheels are horrible!

It doesn't really show any details of the splitter in the pictures tbh, sorry!

Gave her a good wash today, removed the tatty old vento CL badge which cleans up the back end. also replaced the headlight bulbs, sidelight bulbs and fog light bulbs for phillips vision plus and blue vision bulbs! give the car a more modern look in the dark due to the reduction in yellow lights!

thanks to pettsy for the part numbers, i'll be ordering them very soon along with the seat runner clips and a bit of plastic trim which covers the steering colum which is broken!

also, fitted the stereo today, as i'm going for the concours look with the polo, i removed the sony one from her and put it in the vento! at last, i can ditch my tapes!

time for an update!

well, the splitter is the correct one! :D

fitted it last weekend but hadn't had chance to take any pics until today, so, as long as you don't mind dirt, and not up to scratch night shot photography, here we are:
