Vag com users

I have been having some prety crazy probs with my valver, I have hooked it up to vag com and the ++++ voltage is all over the place at one point it hit zero reving the engine made no difference and the battery was charging fine. Quote from my friend with vag com
" just say you put the car on vagcom and the volts on the messuring block was all over the place.. say it was at 0.77 then dropped to 0.00 for bout 10secs.. but when you plugged it up to your mates car it was at 0.45 and didnt move a inch"
Thinking about it i might as well describe the problem although its very confusing. First of all i am driving along and the power will suddenly drop and the accelorator pedal is useless then after a magic moment of god knows what the power will kick back in. When I am getting one of these power losses if i put the clutch down the car stalls and the bat light comes on.
I was also experiencing a large rattle from my middle box and found there was a sod of crack in the pipe that goes to the CAT. I got the exhaust fixed and have experienced no probs since. However I realy dont think this could be linked to the random engine probs. Another thing that was strage was the idle was all over the place and would take a while to settle to normal and would hang on 1500rpm then setlle to normal.
This hang has now gone and the car is fine. Since geting the exhaust fixed I have driven about 30 miles and the car has been fine.
