Getting the backs out is a bit trickier, but still it's not difficult.
Lower one side of the seats. This will reveal the hinge that secures the seats to the chassis.
Releasing the outer:
You basically need to move a plastic tab out of the way. Push it all the way in - it will come back up by itself when you reinsert the seat.
Releasing the inner:
The peg of the seat (the metal stump sticking out from the seat) is basically secured by a metal clip which prevents you from pulling the seat peg through the metal bracket that protrudes from the chassis. You need to lever the middle of the metal clip upwards (i.e. away from the recessed center) and then remove the peg. This is the hardest bit! I used a couple of screwdrivers to get the leverage and a mallet to force the clip out.
Once you've done both of these you can pull the seat out. Then repeat for the other side.
It's not easy to describe in words, hopefully it will make more sense when you see it! If you have any questions, just ask on here.

i think i know what you mean, the outside edge of the seats has that weird tab sitting inside the hinge. makes sense just didnt want to break it off.
have to look at this clip in daylight

think i'll be alright with that now, nice one.
