Heater (or lack of)

Hi all 
SWMBO's polo heater has packed up, it was only fixed a couple of months ago and is now completely dead, its not even trying if you know what I mean.
She's got a MK4 1997 R reg 1.4L.
All the other electrics seam to work fine and I don't think any fuses have busted.
I've read about a bit and the heater from the MK3 seems to come up alot, is it the same one?
Any hints or tips or a place to start?
