Hi all
Well my rims arrived from germany this morning.
Two of them are pretty much perfect, one has some a few bits of laquer peel and the last has a little.
And the Laquer corrision peel
Im looking at sorting them out myself. Question is would i have to completely remove the whole laquer from the alloy? Im Looking to leave the black paint in the insert parts. Finally what should i be using wet n dry or polishing mops?
Any help will be much appreciated to get me on my way
Cheers
Adam

They look real smart mate!
Yuou wouldnt need to rmove the laquer from the whole alloy, just around the rim. There should be somebody on soon for tips. A few have refurbed wheels themselves.

You will only need to strip the laquer from the lips mate. Get yourself some Nitromoors and a good brush to apply it with.
Leave it for 20 mins and then rub it off.
Get yourself 600, 800, 1200 and 1500 grit wet and dry sand paper and work your way through (Take your time, the more careful you are the better finish I found)
To finish just polish them good and proper. I went for autosol metal polish by hand and they are turning out fine (Takes forever and I haven't been arsed to do them all yet

). There are other polishes/tools you can use which make for a good finish too.

Hi all,
Well i finally finished one alloy today, bloody takes long but will be worth it in the end! Only 3 more to do!
As you can see in the above photos one of them had quite bad corision peel. Had to remove all the laquer with nitromors. Didnt look right just doing the rim. Doing all the splits took a fair bit of time with a little brush.
These are how they looked with the laquer:
And finally all polished up:

I cant wait to see what there gona look like on the car.

You might want to consider getting them clear powder coated mate. Else the shininess will fade (Brake dust will bead into the metal etc and you'll have to re polish)
