I have seen the Polo mk5 with red tailights and it looks well, and i want to change my ugly orange and red tailights.

I can find parts on awesome-gti and other sights but they only supply clear or smoked lenses. I think these look cheap and as my car is green then it will defeat the purpose.

Can I fit Mk5 lights to Mk4 and how much work is required, or does anyone know where to get red taillights without payin too much out to get them. I would be preparedto pay up to £150.

Pls help me lads and lasses.

All-red Mk5 lights are easily available from Vagparts or any VW dealership. They don't, however, fit on as good as we'd like without modifications to the lights themselves. Also, the wiring needs to be adjusted.

The lights retail at about 55€ each (well here anyway) so don't get robbed.

If I had to do them again, it would take me about an hour a side - but when I first tried it took me at least double that time to make them 'sit' just right.

bit more expensive than the red ones but sooo much easier to fit. these are direct replacements (and when i can find my bloody torx bits i'll be doing a how-to)

Your car looks very similar to mine Karl but the wheels are different.

What do you think of these lights on a polo same colour as KarlM's Dragon Green?


The 16v ones I found in Awesome-gti.co.uk but these were also here!


Any ideas, tacky and cheap or would they look good against this colour of car.

The black would look ok IMO. Considered these as well, as an alternative to the all-red ones I have now.

get em through martin@VAG parts-they r standard on mk5 polos.
in fact-why not ask in the mk5 forum if anyone who has upgraded theirs to aftermarket ones if they want to sell their originals?

I thought it was worthwile. Not that big a PITA, but a little work is indeed needed.

I actually like the red and orange ones . I'm swapping out my smoked 16V lamps for these as I think they suit my red car better. But I have got hold of a LH lamp from a German spec Polo so I can dispense with the reversing light for a symetrical look.
