Hello.

Head gasket blew today :(
Took of the top and will rectify the top on monday but I want alco to change the cambelt.

Does anyone have a diagram on how to set the timing marks on a cambelt change for a 1.3 GT M2 Polo?

Thank you in advance.

this is how i timed my car up after changing head gasket in the street!

1- select first gear
2- remove number 1 spark plug
3- using a pen/pencil/non-despript-long-thin thing feel for TDC as you 'rock' the car back and forward. obviously this is when your pen is as high as it gets
4- get an assistant to firmly apply the handbrake
5- you need to line up the rotor arm of your dizzy with the contact for number 1
6- put the belt on! i personally find it easier to 'roll' the belt on by pushing the car down the road
7- check the timing! you might find the belt has jumped a tooth, if its wrong, do it again! remember number 1 will spark at TDC
8- put it all back together!

somebody will probably tell me i'm wrong! but thats what i did and i get 100mph from a 21 year old 1 litre! IT WORKED FOR ME!

its in the haynes...

and to find TDC u look at tyhe bottom pully. it has a little box, and then u line up the "notch" on the Crank pully 8)
