Hey are the bump strips on the mk5 the same length as the ones on the mk4? Also Im guessing they come in the black plastic colour, as if they do Il just stick them straight on.

may be a similar length, but the mk5 ones look wider.

anyways the mk5 ones are just stuck on whereas the mk4 ones clip on. why do you want the bumstrips.....just leave them off, smooth style!

they will be black if they are of a 1.0litre or brand new, but the rest of the models have them colour coded

I was under the impression that the Mk4 ones are just stuck on also. I cant afford to take them off I have to park in a supermarket carpark a couple of times a week, and Ive seen what the damage done by clumsy idiots to other peoples doors.

Mk4 rub strips are just glued on.

Mk5 rub strips are clipped on.

hang on, im confussed, the 6n2 model, year 2000, are the strips stuck on or clipped on? if clipped on does that mean theyd leave holes if removed? if so how easy to sort out?

mk4 6N is just glue

mk5 6N2 are properly attached and need bodywork if removed

Right so to get the mk5s to fit would have to remove the clips and flatten the backs

There not clips they've just got little bobbles pretruding out of em. You could cut them off with a stanley blade. I've got a set if your interested :D

The 6n ones are just stuck on and pull off easy. The glue's a b*stard to remove though!

The 6n2 ones are glued as well as having locating nobs.

but why, i cant really see the point.....there only bump strips eh. You wouldnt really notice the difference between the mk4 and 5's.

Whats the reason you want to change?

Well on the one side of mine its a bit scuffed, (at least it werent the bodywork) and I need them on the car because I dread to think what state the doors would be in without them. Also the Mk5 ones just seem much smoother. What condition are yours in vudubit?

There all smooth and painted in the original car colour, black magic pearl. Though i could spray them textured black or body colour them red for you if you wanted

Well I want to keep them black if possible because other wise my handles will stick out like sore thumbs. How close to the standard plastic would textured black be do you reckon?
