Engine Cover

How easy have your engine cover nuts been to undo? I have an new panel filter to put in but can't budge the nuts at all.....have tried using my own brute strength and an allen key and that didn't work. So then tried a drill but that didn't budge them either :? Am starting to worry that it could be a case of drilling the nuts out just to get the engine cover off.....and also wandering how the garage got the nuts off when it was serviced last?

Any help, suggestions or views would be greatly appreciated as i really am stuck for ideas at the moment and am considering paying someone to do it. Which is pure madness for removing an engine cover

When Prash and I were fitting my BMC induction kit, we tried (and failed) to remove the engine cover. The bolts just wouldn't budge! So, because my local dealership were the last people to have removed it, we went up there and I asked nicely if they could get it removed. Job was done in about 5 minutes, at no cost of course 8)

I am hoping my local dealer will be as nice. The previous owner had it serviced last and that was done up near Slough...so a bit far for me to go back to them

But at least it's not just me who can't remove them :D

I didn't have a problem with mine, but it is probably just down to luck.

Before (if) you put them back, clean them with a wire brush, and put copper slip on them to prevent them from seizing.......or buy a new set, I believe they are 12p each.
