New member - Daft questions

Hi everyone, i'm a new member who's just loined because my better half has got herself a R reg 1.4 CL Polo. It looks the same as other pictures i've seen in this section, and it has a '6N' in the engine code so i'm assuming it's a MKIV?!
It's a pretty tidy car, and being a bodywork man i'm going to be giving it a full respray come the summer, plus some alloys and a golf gear knob, etc, plus it's the car she's always wanted so hopefully it'll shut her up for a while!
Anyway, there's a couple of small probs that i want to sort out first. The elec' windows don't work, so i've read with interest about this repair kit you can get for the motors, so hopefully that'll sort that. But at the moment the passengers side window switch appears to be controlling the instrument lights??!! sounds ridiculous i know but when you press the switch up the instruments light up and the number plate lights come on! Any ideas apart from some water in the sysytem?
Also, i'd like to go through the fuse box and just double check everything, but the owner's manual appears to be out of date? On the back of the glove box where the diagram key is for which fuse is what, someone has stuck a white sticker over it with a new fuse layout. It looks official but now the list of fuses in the manual doesn't correspond to the white sticker?? I haven't quite worked out how to post pics yet, but i'll try and get one up. But if anyone has a list of the right fuses, what rating they should be and what they're for i'd be very grateful for a pic or a scan of the page!
Many thanks and kind regards,Keith
