Removing Lettering

I have been looking at this site for a few days now, after a few topics on how to do it safely i gave it ago today.
i was going to use the method using a hairdryer and fishing line.
but i couldn't find my mums hair dryer so gave it a go with just fishing line.
5 pound fishing line, found in my fishing box.
i used the line like a saw cutting through the sticky foam on the back of the letters.
supprisingly the letters came away very easy, leaving minimal black tape on the car. her are the step-by-step pictures i took as i was doing it.
Origional back of my car.

After removing the lessers with the fishing line.

A quick wash with normal car wash stuff.

A good 5 minutes of washing and carefully using a credit card getting the remainder of the black off.

Next job i think is to remove the 'POLO' writing.

Possibly take back badge off and respray with gun metal to make it look a bit better.

Autoglym Tar Remover makes light work of that sticky stuff left after the badges are removed.

to take that off took about 5 mins (at most)
the black sticky stuff was easy to get off.

didn't need any special stuff to do it.

I was just wondering (as i couldn't seem to find a place for this question to go) if there is any info about taking the back VW badge of my car. it seems well stuck and i've hurd people say it has 2 holes, so i'm presuming thery're holding it in?

(i'm going to spray it and replace it so no worries about the recess thing thats there.

cheers.

I think your car would look a lot nicer with a new rear number plate as that one is making the car look a bit tatty. Not too expensive but I think these days you need to take your car reg docs to get a new number plate done. Bout £8? or so?

the badge is hard to get off without breaking the two mounting pins on the back of it.the badge mounts to a plate that is stuck to the body.
if you get your fishing line behind the mounting plate stuck to the car and not the chome badge itself.it will come off complete with the badge.you will just need to find something to stick it back on with after spraying it.
you could just go a get a black one which will prob look better anyway

Reminds me of the Jimmy Carr bit where we told a joke about a fat lass and one yelled out "Fattist"

He looked around the audience and said "Yep, I think you are"
