Omg just pulled my handbrake up today at a set of lights and the handbrake came of the chasis completely has this ever happened to anyone?had a wee look and its just totally ripped of the car

yeah well sort of,,, you need to get the plate that holds the cable in place seam welded

on mine,,,the actual bracket that the lever bolts just ripped clean off,,,had to take seats out and weld it back down.

Same happened to mine, but raher than welding, drilled two holes and bolted it back, then the bugger aint gonna ever do that again!

a friend at a local garage welded mine for £30,,,i took the seats and carpet out for them though and it was at mates rates,,but should be around that.

ps,,,its seems weve found another common fault on the 6n gents

Mine started pulling off just before my annual service. I thought it was a loose cable and asked them to tighten it as part of the service. Bless them they found it was the lever coming away from the chassis and bolted it back on for me.

The same people fixed a faulty window the year before once I told them of the repair kit rather than the replacement electric motor. They hadn't known about it but were happy to repair rather than replace.

Yeh I had that problem on mine... had my stereo fitted and the guy said that my handbrake is UNBELIEVABLY high (i had no idea.. DUH). After taking the drivers seat out, pulling up a load of carpet and then getting a S*** load of mud all over my car, the guy welded the plate back onto the chassis, did it for nothing too so even if you do have to pay, shouldnt be too expensive.
