New speakers or just an inline amp?

Hi guys. Well I have covered getting the new speakers fitted and all, but earlier I read if you put an inline amp with the OEM speakers, you can get a damn good sound out of them. I've got the BETA head unit with the iPod connector - its super :P (damned expensive tho!)

Has anyone done this? and if so how? Or would you just replace the speakers + components instead and forget an amp:P

Cheers,

Alex

you could amp your original speakers but is it worth it??. id take a guess and say that they can probably take about 25-30wrms before giving problems/distorting.

i havent done it myself however you would get a noticable improvement, but bear in mind, oem speakers are designed to sound good of very little power. not to mention the midrange speaker in the door isnt running off a crossover so itll be trying to play a load of frequencies it struggles with. the minute you crank them up a decent amount, theyll start distorting. therefore if you give too much power to them, youll damage them

my advice, leave it as it is or if you wanna upgrade, then get a set of comps and a simple/cheap amp. running comps of a headunit will actually sound worse than the originals, as comps are designed to perform very well with more power, and oem's work wonders with little power but dont get loud
