Whats the score with these? Anyone got them fitted? I've heard that eibach are the best and if VW approve them, I shouldnt have to tell the insurance should I?
Was just wanting some basic info as well as price too please.

just noticed that VAG Parts sell VW lowering springs, take it that these are the Eibach ones?

I think these are the sports springs??

i am getting eibach springs for mine 30mm drop.

says for 1.2 and 1.4 on the site, so don't know if they are the same as what the sport got as standard or not. Might have a look on ETKA and see.

I'd hazard a guess and say they are just the sport springs.

And yes you would need to tell your insurance as it's a modification where as on mine they were factory standard.

I think they are different to the sport springs, for the sport model they would still lower an extra 15mm.

Have been considering them myself as they will be more friendly to the shocks than the 50mm ones.

Are Eibach actually the best? That aside, how much would they roughly cost to get them?

I would say they are the best make for springs, you would be looking around £120 + VAT just for the springs, and however much on top for fitting and wheel alignment.

For that price, wouldn't it be worth buying a new suspension kit - they're like 130/40 aren't they.

Can someone explain to me what coilovers are please?

coilovers are height adjustable spring and dampers, they are alot thinner but usualy better quality than a 'standard' set up

i really doubt you can get a full suspension kit for 140, it would almost definately be cr@p

for a spax/koni/eibach set up you are looking 300+ for just springs and dampers all round really.

I personally wouldn't want to go for Coilovers as I don't want to adjust it at all once it's set and I wouldn't lower it much anyway because of the lovely speed bumpers we have so much of in this country ]

And so, i'd settle for the Eibachs and be happy

Who are you insured with?

Some insurance companies, I know Brentacre do this, won't charge you any extra on your premium for most mod's and, with proof of purchase, will replace any of these parts in the event of them being damaged in an accident etc.

I'm certain as long as you notify them along with receipts, they will replace it for exactly the same when or if the time comes.

They're even pretty lenient with tuning. They will give you a certain horse power limit, again, without your premium going sky high!

....And a VW specialist..!

i've got a set of eibach 30mm springs that i had when i had the polo. the handling was improved, the ride was just as comfirtable and i paid 120 to but them and another £100 to fit em (i know i was mugged but this was about 3 1/2 years ago before i had loads of mechanic mates). i'd sell em for £30 +p&p if anyone wants them.
i took them off as the car wasn't as low as i wanted it so i got some fk coilovers for about £500, plus an extra £100 to fit em and about another £100 to get them properly set up where you sit in the car and they weigh each corner and adjust it to the nearest milimetre. it looked low and mean but speed bumps were a nightmare.
yeah you can adjust coilees but you need to jack up each wheel and turn the coils, not the sort of thing you can do before and after a speed bump as it takes about 30mins.
for the benz i want it looking low but i still want to beable to get over speed bumps so i'm goin air ride. its only £1600 for the front and back to be independant so its just a case of riding low, see a speed bump, turn dial, car goes up, drive over bump, turn dial, car goes down. sorted. its a bit more than coilees but it will be well worth it.
