Just to confirm, is the interior light meant to come on when you switch off the engine and take the key out the engine? If so how would I go about to get mine working again? Also the light doesn't come on when you open a door. This as simple as a fuse or more complicated?

Take a look in your manual.
There are two or possibly 3 positions the interior light can be left in. The different positions result in different actions, I know one position being that the light doesn't function when the door is opened.
If it definately doesn't work at all, yes it could be a fuse, or even the bulb that has failed.

Well the bulb works. The light will work if you put it to the left position (always on) but won't in the middle (auto) or right (off)

Could be related your alarm problems you had, itcould be that it is interfering with the central cnvenience module which controls the lights etc. The aftermarket alarm will probaly be using the standard door switches so would have be cut into the factory wiring. The factory fit alarm is rated as a Cat 1 system so if it was me I would get the after market one removed with all the problems you have been having with it.

three positions:
far left: off
Middle: on when something is open, also the light does stay on when you take the key out of the ignition..it should turn off when you lock the vehicle
far right: always on

That bastard alarm. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest. I'm clueless to why the previous owner installed an aftermarket one (3 weeks before I got the car). I've got a guy coming to look at my car on Saturday so hopefully can sus it out
I bet my car would go faster without it too
