Vw Polo
1995 Mk4 6n
1.6i 8v…………..
Mums had the car from new so its been well looked after, what can I say nippy motor. Had the car myself since august 2006, just spent a ton of money making sure it runs smooth (brakes all round, new clutch, m.o.t bits and bobs, service, new distributor, starter motor and all ecu tests) before I start the real stuff, runs amazing now though. Great lover of 5 door cars, just like cars that look a bit longer. Also a huge fan of euro styling and just making things look clean and smooth. Got a huge list of things to do to my Polo so watch this space over the next few months. By the way, im studying model making at uni, I make sets for films etc, that’s not really relevant….but I have a lot of experience in paint finishes and techniques so if anyone need tips or advice on body flushing and painting etc message me, I no a lot of weird alternatives for stuff, you no better alternatives to the advice giving on the back of cans. ok bflower59947 since u say u know about body work and stuff, on my 6n2 polo, where the big VW badge is on the boot of my car, its inlayed a bit into the boot. if i wanted to remove it and fill in the indent it leaves what would u say is the best way?

should u say i could use some filller and do it myself or take it to the body shop and get them to do it prefessionally??

sorry kipper ive been away for the weekend (no internet access)

the badge on the back of your car i believe is stuck on but im not sure.... so dont take my complete word for it. but if your flushing it, it wont make a difference if theres holes where it was.

dont take it to a garage they will charge you the earth for what will take a day at the most. it just takes time and patience. take the badge off and use filler to flush the indentation:
its entirely up to you what filler you want to use but choose from these two--
P38- is an easy sand car body filler (its easy to sand and simple to work with)
p40- is a fibreglass based car body filler, but its harder to sand than p38.
I prefer using p38 but overall you get a better finish with p40 but its more difficult to work with...... (id use p38 if your a beginner in sanding and painting etc)

read the instructions on amounts to mix hardner and filler etc (once mixed p38 is pink) u need to work with it fast because it drys quickly. dont try to fill the hole all in one go do it bit by bit, but the hole isn't to deep so you should get away with filling it all at once.

let the filler dry for 30-45 minutes then sand it flush to the boot. you will end up with little imperfections in the finished sanded filler so just add layer on layer and sand and sand untill the finished product is entirely smooth. it will take a while and probably wont look alot different after sanding but the overall final paint job will look alot better if you take your time. a days work. good luck.

reply if you need help painting.
