Hi,

Just noticed another problem i'm experiencing:

I have no hot air coming out of the vents. I have a steady and strong flow of air, so its not obstruct. I also changed the polen filter a month ago...

All i get is cold air, no matter how i rearrange the buttons on the heater panel.

Thoughts?

Hehe strangely enough I spoke to a guy about this just last week. I think your heater motor is gone. If im right, a new one from VW is in the region of £190.

Cheers,

Alex

Hehe,

Exactly because of that particular fact. I'm used to hot weather. It's 10 degrees outside and i can only leave the house with gloves, scarf, etc etc!

What can i say! The first time i went to london I almost froze to death!!

But back to the car.

By heater motor do you mean the blower? this little thing here?

But if the air flow is strong, i presume this is working fine. But i'll check it out.

What are the other things i should check? I read around and people talked about the thermostat and flushing the coolant. Care to develop on the topic?

Thanks,

Pedro

I think there is a heater element or some mechanism which diverts the hot air from the engine - worth checking that out too :)

Alex

Hey,

Thanks, that should be it. I've checked the blower and it's fine.

But where is that heater element located? Does anyone knows?
Oh, and how do i check the thermostat?

My guess would be the Heater Matrix also as this is where the heat from the engine bay enters the cabin.

Well, seems like i have to check the heater matrix!

And by what you guys say, i'll be over by summer time!

Rich16v, could you give out some pointers on how to check the heater matrix?

What should i do? Disconnect the two tubes, take it out and clean it, check for leaks...what?

And i'll also check what the Haynes manual has to say about this!

Thanks,

Pedro

ill get you some photos of mine as im currently doing it..I noticed as i had a funny smell coming through the vents (coolant) and not a lot of heat.Plus i was losing water from the header tank. You can disconnect it by taking the piping of that goes through the bulkhead and simply bypass it which is how i ran mine like that but decided to sort it eventually. If you have to fix it you gotta take all the dash out/steering wheel and airbag/the lot really,as its right behind your dash.Like i said ill get you some pics shortly..

My heater didn't kick out any hot air. I changed the water pump and now all is well...
