K&N 57i for the 1.2

Hey guys,

just bought a second hand 57i,

anyone got an idea how to fit it? i had a look, took off the engine cover, but the whole air box is built in? is this right?

basically, from what i think is the throttle body, there's a whole that goes to the air box?

so has anyone fitted one to a 1.2?

also, there are two obscure hoses attached to the engine cover? are these vacuums or something to clean the stock filter and air box?

sorry for long topic, trying to avoid fitting costs.

Just fixed it on, looked really simple but the instructions it came with doesnt do alot of justice, eventually we got it on, and it sounds a lot better :D

I didnt take no pictures when he was fitting it in, but i can take a picture as it is now because the instructions were kinda rubbish, so my friend (Fitted all my friends induction kit, experienced mechanic) done what he thought was right and finished the job.

Ill take the pictures tomorrow while i'll give it a clean

also make sure you dont drop any peices into the engine, otherwise you need someone with very skinny hands (me) to fetch it!

maybe the kit is for the 65 one? 'cos K&N list it under a different code

57-0490 for the 55
57-0530 for the 65

Sound has improved a lot, feels like theres slight improvement to torque, but this might just be me. Best to gather more views from people with induction kits before buying :P

i have had my 57i on now for a year and love it the noise is great especially in a small engined car mines a 1.4 so if i had got an exhaust the constant noise on the motorway would have driven me mental, the k+n gives you noise when you want it, silence when u dont!!!

about power increase i think it picks up better and the noise always puts a smile on my face when people turn round to look!!!! :D

yeh, only problem i find, is coz mines a 55 bhp 1.2, it used to make a lot of noise on the motorway as it was.

now, its a low dull drone, unless i free wheel it, overtaking is a killer on the ears.

still - recommend to anyone
