Hi guys, Just wanted your opinions on an Inphase XTB10 Subwoofer with Legacy LA2060 Amplifier.

A friend of a friend is looking to unload the pair for £100.00

(Inphase xtb10 Subwoofer 10", I think its 600w rms and the Amplifier, Legacy LA2060 2000watts max, 1000 rms.)

1st is it worth it?

2nd has anyone heard of these products / know if these companies are any good?

3rd and finally are they well matched? How does the pairing of Subs and Amps go? Does the amp need twice the power of the sub or vice versa?

Many thanks!

i would avoid legacy amps if i were you, they seem to have a bad reputation among audio enthusiasts.

but then again £100 for a sub+amp isnt bad.

never heard of the sub to be honest but looking around on the net they dont seem bad. go for the sub but i would avoid the amp if i were you, unless he does it for a lower price, in which case sell the amp for £50 or whatever you get (some chav will probably give you a decent amount of money for it just because its 1000wrms).

then use that money to buy a better amp. aim for an amp which outputs about 700-800rms, then youll have a good match.

Thanks for getting back to me guys.

yeah thats what I thought..the amp may be pants but I'll ask him to drop the price and see if I can shift it myself.

Yup, after looking around on In Phase's site and just doing a plain old Google search the cheapest price I found was £79.99 for the sub alone, no box, but the one the guy is selling has a box very similar to that of Vibe's Crackle effect. Seems of good quality.

Also now may be a good time to say that this is only for a lil temporary run around, not after a heavy weight system just yet because my cars a bit crap! Thats why when I heard about the set I kind of thought hey, that doesn't sound to bad for the price and what I'm actually after! So knowing that do ya reckon I should try him for say £80 and take it?

Much appreciated.

cost wise i would say it is worth it.

the amps are far from top spec but the whole system will do the job really. still try and knock the price down a bit if you can.

£124.20

These are the cheapest prices I have seen so far totalling £304.19
but as they are used (for only two months by the way) he is asking for £100.00. If he comes down to £80 or even £90 I think its dead cert that I'll be fitting them in tomorrow! hehe :D

id say go for it. the sub seems fine and so does the amp but just dont expect/demand too much from the amp and itll be fine.

Yeah I won't! :D

I installed it just now, and wow the sub really does pack a decent sized punch!

My brothers got a 15" Type R and Kenwood monobloc and yet it still sounds very similar..could that be down to the fact that boot space in the polo Mk4 is smaller to that of his Vectra?

Oh well no problem! Just wanted to say cheers for the help guys

:D

many things can affect a subs output. could be his amp isnt upto the job, different box (sealed/ported). maybe he hasnt bothered setting it up right or maybe youve set yours too high (gains etc)

type r's are known to be very impressive in their price range. but for £100 you cant go wrong. :D
