Hi All


Wife has just brought a 2003 mdy Polo Twist
Rear wash wipe pipe has become disconnected near washer botle, so everytime you squirt the rear window a puddle of water appears under the engine.
Which way shall i approach this???
1 Jack car up and remove belly pan

OR

2 Remove battery, air filter???

Have checked all other connections and apart from the one near the rear lights in the boot eveything is fine

Any Ideas

i think you can do it by just removing the airfilter (i did it this way)

Brought from a VW garage?

If so - take it back and get it done on warranty

Thanks for the reply's guys, car is from a used car dealer. Came with 3 month warrenty but havent got time to take it back to them as the mechanic only works 9 - 11 mon - thursday..


Will have a fiddle in the morning as i have the day off

this has been one of the common faults, so not a job done by many as most got it fixed by vw free of charge under warrenty in the 1st 3 years of ownership
someone will have been looking around the engine bay though and should know how to do it

The washer tank is located on the inner side of the passenger side wing so you would need to remove the front bumper and the under tray to work on it.

I've not had this problem on mine, so can't really comment on it, but I know its down there. Hope this helps

Had a look this morning, looks a right B*g*R to do. Rang dealer we brought it from. Will be dropping off on monday morning for them to look at...
Lets see what happens

the rear washer joins on a t-piece under the the airbox, really easy to connect. by the time you have driven to the garage you would have done it!!

Ok will have another look in the morning.

Will i have to remove all the air box???
Or the front bumper??? lol

If i can`t sort it will leave it to them as it shoud be covered under the 3 month warrenty.

just the airbox. its held on by 2 bolts i think? maybe 3. then you need pliers to remover the clip on the pipe.

the pipe runs along the chassis leg, with the t-piece directly under the airbox.

It was a bit tight but have reconnected the pipe and added 2 zip ties just in case..

I ended up applying a drop of superglue to edge of pipe before clipping in back together, works fine now.
