Rattle!! 9n3

Hi all!

Done about 300 mile now in the new Polo and it has developed a noise....
Whenever the engine is rev'ed between 1k and 2k i get this horrible rattle from the drivers side from the dashboard area.

It sounds like it is from outside the car, but u have had the bonnet open and tested it and i cant hear a thing.

I get this regardless if that car is stationary or in motion and only between the described revs!

Anyone got any ideas? i have tried everything possible with the dash to see if i can find what is causing it.

I have even cleared all my stuff out of the door pockets etc etc thinking it may be something like that.

Any suggestions welcome, its quite loud and annoying! lol

Thanks

Chris

Ive got 4000km on mine now, and its got quite a number of rattles/creaks...not the one you are describing however. I am pretty dissatisfied in this regard so i have it booked in for the dealer to try and fix, tho, i think they will probably just make them worse.

Uh oh!

Mine is booked in on sat for an ipod kit.

Do you think they will look at it then as well?

Thanks

Only if you ask them too.

The iPod kit is something you can actually fit yourself lol.

I found that out after I spent £150 getting mine fitted, as VAG Parts sell it for 80 quid - thats almost double its value to fit it!

Cheers,

Alex

Yeh, i watched them take all of 5mins to fit it!!!!

The part from VW is only £90 as well!!

They said they could not look at the rattle at the same time as they only do small jobs on a saturday!

So i have to have it booked in again to get it looked at!

Altho they will come to my work and pick it up, leaving me with another car as well!

Never mind,

Thanks

Chris

Well, i took mine in to get the creaks/rattles sorted and it does seem much better...for now. My very creaky door seal is now silent thank god. Only issue is that the steering colmn surround is now loose, but thats not too hard to fix. Oh, and the fact that the service guy must have taken it for a good thrashing on his test drive judging by the fuel average on the trip meter when i picked it up!

Beta works only with 4 speakers

Hehe to expand on that, the BETA and the GAMMA are the radio/tape units. Beta can only run front speakers, whereas the gamma can run rear speakers also :P

Alex

So it means that with beta radio i can't install rear speakers? :?

Is the beta version Ipod compatible?

You can install rear speakers on a BETA, you just wont have fader control. You will also need to split and amplify the front speakers so you can drive the backs too - buts its not the best way.

Yup - the iPod kit is compatible with the BETA, GAMMA, and all newer VW stereos inc the sat nav ones :D
