Cleaning BMC Filter

Does this need to be done? If so hows the best way to go about it?

I assume you are talking about the CDA as opposed to any other type?

From the diagram there is clearly a filter element, although having never seen one myself I have no idea if the unit can be opened??? Do you still have the box/instructions?

From the BMC site, they seem to list a replacement cartridge, but it isn't exactly clear how/when or if, it should be cleaned/replaced.

There are panel filter cleaning instructions.

It may be best to drop them an e-mail to confirm.

Hmmm it says "CDA filtering system is composed of a cylindrical carbon air box containing a washable filtering element".

So it must be able to be opened somehow

Apparently, you just get some filter cleaner like the stuff that K&N sell, and spray it in there! I've not gotten around to do doing mine but it is a little overdue I think. This sort of stuff should do the trick!

It comes out easily. Just unscrew the small phillips screws.

As for the filter I wouldn't worry about shampooing it just yet if its not grimey. I would just use a vacuum cleaner with the small brush adapter and remove any debri caught in the filter.
