help with speedo

my m8s mk4 polo went through the mot a couple of weeks back, he is selling the car, i went round to have a look at it and noticed that some of the little digits are missing on the miles so you cant tell how many its done, he said it was fine before cause they read the mileage at the mot station, any ideas if this can be cured or is it fecked, thanks.

Maybe needs a new screen - LCD screens sometimes lose digits with age. Could also just be a dodgy connection to the mainboard.
Otherwise it could mean a new dial assembly, which then means reprogramming the mileage into the car :p

i seen a full spedo n lcd screen on ebay a few days ago it was only 20 quid
