Shocks

Hi all,
I've got a 1.4 tdi sport that i'm trying to get through its MOT. Among other issues i've been told the front shocks need replacing because they're leaking. However apparently after ringing round there are no replacement shocks for this model in the country!
Has anybody had this problem before and know of a way around it?
I've been told that there is a backlog, and that they should be available at the end of the month, which is after the MOT expires.
Any help would be much appreciated...
