Smell of fumes

Hi all,

Got my car back today after its 70k service (although its done 43k :? but whatever). Had the cambelt changed and the fluids etc etc.

But since having it back, theres an awful smell of fumes coming into the car via the airvents when the fan is on. I usually drive with it set to 1 on the fan so its on most of the time, and I have never smelt this before.

Has anyone got an idea of what it could be and how I can fix it? (I thought it might be the airfilter, as that was last changed in 04?)

Cheers,

Alex

Might just do that. It was a VW dealership too! In fact, where I bought the car from. Will go down there tomorrow if I can still smell it!

Cheers,

Alex

I get that smell but my crankcase breather is on its own air filter. Check its still plugged into ur air box.

Took it into VW this morning. Turns out when they fitted the new cambelt, they did not reconnect the airbox properly. The crank case breather pipe wasnt connected - therefore pumping it all into the car!
