Here is some info and a few pictures of my first car.

Cost me 170 great british pounds, which I thought was quite good.

Its a 1987 squareback polo. It has a beasty 1.05 engine and has faded red paint

I have undertaken bodywork to smooth over a few tiny dents and sort out the rust. Then will have it taken for a respray. Also i'm in the process of cleaning up the engine. Primered the belt cover and i'm sanding the rocker cover to the metal ready for paint.

It just past its M.O.T after needing new rear brakes, a battery and a handbrake cable. So will be on the road soon :D

It has a full vw service history and i'm the second owner from new. Has done 55,000 miles and the engine is in perfect working condition. Runs really smooth.

As you can see I have:
Stripped out the rear - trying to make it just a little bit faster
Fitted a k&n bolt on filter
Fitted a new headunit
I'm also in the process of making some boxes for my 6x9's behind the front seats.
Has golf mk1 gti brake set up

And thats about it. Will be treated to new wheels and shocks when I get the money.

Hi, thats quite a bargain you got there, look good too, to get the red back to more or less how it use to be, use some decent polish (u may have to fork out a bit more to make it that bit better) and the red will come up peeerfectly again!!

I just bought a Mk3 Polo, 1992 and taking delivery of it this week... Can't wait!!! its a perfect car, in great condition and the inside interior of it is spotless! only done 81 thousand miles so its really good.

Anyway, Bye for now

I have given my car a much needed clean as she's jus been sitting on the garden waiting for me to pass my test.
I used a range of autoglym products including some high resin polish. I have to say I am impressed. Although I wasnt expecting it to go red again it has certainly improved in colour and is now a very shiney faded red

Take it easy

K&N's do nothing for performance, well... not on these engines anyways

bugger

Yeh I only really brought the k&n because it looks cool  I am fabricating an enclosed induction system of some sort for it to combat heat issues so am hoping for a tiny little bit more power.

Better airflow has got to help somehow??

Good luck with your mk3 mate hope it all gets sorted and get another polo back on the road :D

it shall be back on the road within two weeks, have foned up the garage whom i bought it from, and they are picking it up this week, and depending on the damage it should be driveable again by end of march at the latest! one other thing that may be broke on it, it may have shot a piston, which could be costly... but im not paying

Yeh better airflow does make a car quicker coz it can compress the mixture better and quicker, but watch out coz if you put too much air into the engine, and the fuel mix isn't right you may run the risk of blowing it up! thats why induction kits are a bit of a fool coz people think you can just shove em on and go, but u av to re adjust all the fuel intake and everything so it works smoothly!

maybe a sports cat aswell? that would definately increase power, and its legal...just!
