Sorry pointless post but today i was driving my polo and i had forgotten my stereo facia so no tunes

, anyway driving along and was horrified to hear how much creeks there are coming from certain areas in my car.. esp. the passenger door (i have a 3 door), seems to be and the back of it near where the door lock is.. and also down where the ashtray is, if you stick your hand on it it stops... car must be getting old.. boo. last time i forget my stereo face!
just wondering, does anyone do anything to get rid of creeks or do people just generally except them? it really bugs me like

Right, up until about a couple of months ago my attitude towards creaks and rattles was 'turn up the radio'. Then I took my sub out and that solution went with it. So I have creaky door panels in exactly the places you describe, front doors and rear 3/4 panels too (but less annoying). It is driving me insane.
Anyway, I was planning to get it fixed tomorrow (but then plans changed and I don't have a clue when there'll be time)... I have two theories as to the solution. One is carpeting the rear of the door cards so there's no more plastic-on-metal anymore. Two is replacing the clips that hold the panel in place, as they may or may not be worn or creaky themselves. I'd have to take the panels off to know for sure what works best but I'll let you know if it improves with either the carpeting or the clips thing.
About the ashtray rattle; I have no idea. I have a nasty rattle from the dashcluster, it shuts up when you put your hand on it. Very annoying too.
I'll start with the door panels first - that loud creaking is getting the best of me...

Mine squeaks around the ashtray area too !. It has done ever since I've owned it.
I don't have a radio at all in mine so I hear every squeak/creak, rattle and knock etc all the time but I have got used to it

nice one cheers... let us know how you get on... not in the best of moods today as i was washing my car with a power washer earlier (i know...) and washed over my front bumper (16v) and managed to strip some paint of it.... its now got two grey marks about 2cm long on the top below the headlight...

ah no!! and the main pain is that i can't seem to find a colour of paint at the local car shop (halfords etc.) that matches my colour, which is Memory Red (metalic weird red colour) so i'll just have to get some made up or something? They seem to do most of VW colours, i noticed dragon green is there.. but not mine. Unless they call it something different...

Damn, that's some powerful Kärcher you've got there then
FWIW, the dealer will be able to get you any colour you want, and I believe that you decide the ammount you need (i.e. just a pen, or a can, or a gallon).
