Hey,

Since i've been having some "hapennings" with my polo i'm going to do a overhaul checkup, cleaning the throttle body, new HT leads, new distributor cap and a new distributor. To see if the engine stops misfiring!

I've read the instructions from haynes and it seems simple enough.

But I'm a bit unsure about point 2 - "Set the TDC on cylinder No 1", any pointers?
Is this absolutely necessary?

And should i be careful about something else? I already know how to keep the firing order 1-3-4-2

Any help would be aprecciated!

i think what you mean is you bought a new distributor cap and rotor for inside it and you want to change that? well in that case you dont need to set the engine to tdc cos your not taking the whole thing off. The new cap and rotor is a straight swap just make sure you get the leads the same was around
