Fuckin pissed off!!

Had football training tonight. Finished up after a tough sesh, into the car and starts reversing! Not looking for some odd fuckin reason, *CRUNCH* i reverse the car into a mates bloody civic! Not a dent on his, but my rear bumper has cracked where the smoothing was done!

Absolutely gutted! Cant believe i done that, i'm usually such a careful driver aswell!

Well thats a couple of plans out the window, as this is going to have to go into get repaired!:evil:

Its about a 6-8" crack, It is repairable, but just a f*****g nuisance mate! and i am so unbelievably skint! The cash was gonna be goin towards some tasty mods, but thats them defo on hold now!

Its my fault for not looking, but he was parked in such a daft place!

Here's what i'd do:

Go to your local factors and buy a tin of Upol Plasx 6 plastic filler. Its around £12. Dig the hole out a bit using a screwdriver. Apply filler and sand. Start with 60grit sandpaper, then 240 the 400. Refill any dimples and sand until perfectly smooth, finishing with 600 grit wet. Prime with an aerosol (just the repair and an inch of surrounding area. Flat with 800 grit sandpaper. Prime and sand again. Buy an aerosol in the correct colour from halfords or similar. Spray to the area, again with another overlap of around an inch. Build up several thin coats until its nicely covered. Flat back the paint using 1500 grit paper. G3 (or lots of t-cut) then polish up with good quality polish.

Total cost of repair? Under £20 and a sunday morning.

I totally agree -its a great idea. What polish would you recommend using (as mine is the same colour and theres a few bits i need to sort out )?

vdubit has a very valid point. If you do screw it up, you've lost £20 at most.

My advice would be:
* Put the aerosol in a bucket with some nice warm water while you get ready as this makes the paint easier to mix and spray.
* Shake the can for at least 2 minutes
* Spray from a distance and do it in single layers. Patience is a virtue! Seriously, take your time and it'll be fine!
* Don't spray all your other panels at the same time Mask up

I'm just gonna buy a new bumper and use this shagged one as a bit of practice. Gonna learn the tricks of the trade for the future
