Modifying Seat Ibiza rear bench

Hi Guys
Bought a set of Ibiza seats for my girlfriends 6N Polo.
The fronts went in quite easily, they are just a bit harder to slide on the runners than the old ones.
The rears aren't as simple, so I was hoping someone who has already done this can tell me if I'm thinking along the right lines.
Basically the Ibiza ones have a metal clip/bracket in addition to the round bar found on the standard Polo seats. This bracket is in the way, and I'm hoping I can just junior hacksaw it off.
Can anyone confirm this is the case? Or am I missing something obvious?
Many thanks in advance, hope someone can help.
