Hi guys,

Well today saw me spend a little bit more on my car. So far this week, I have now upgraded to Bosch Aerotwin Retrofit wipers, which I must say are superb!

Now I have just gone and bought some upgraded dome bulbs, namely for the interior light, number plate lights and the boot compartment light. They are all these ultra bright white LEDs. If you have been following my changes, the output is very similar to that of the high powered xenon white sidelights I, and some other members on here have

You might be thinking 'why bother?', but its been bugging me for so long with this yellow light (I hate warm white coloured bulbs. Im much more for this LED and xenon business rather than rubbish standard bulbs). Also, if I have to read something with the interior light on at night, the bulb is too dim for me to read with ease. Same goes for the boot light not providing the light I want when I need to inspect the contents of my boot in the dark

I'll be posting some pics of on tues when I get them in the post

Cheers,

Alex

You'll have to watch them in your numberplate Alex, I've had to go back to the standard bulbs (luckily I kept them) after the LED's starting flickering then just stopped, they were in there a couple of months.

Well the left one was flickering one day and the right one was fine, next day it was the other way round then later on that day - nothing :( Not saying this will happen but just keep your eye on it.

They are really good in the boot though :D

Thats interesting I gotta admit - I'll keep my eye on them; hopefully they will be fine. I've never experienced any problems with LED bulbs, apart from a pair of my sidelights in my old mans merc - they simply wouldnt light.

Mercedes Benz cars have some intelligent bulb system, whereas if the bulb doesnt draw enough current, the car presumes the bulb is blown and dramatically reduces the current going to that bulb - useless!

Cheers,

Alex

Well, here on tuesday, as promised are some pics - I'll get some more showing how bright they really are tomorrow evening. Its quite easy to spot the yellowy befores, and the bright blue white afters :P

You know, I don't think there is one yellowy white bulb left in my car now! 8)

Cheers,

Alex

can you please give some links on where you got these from? I really want to change my bulbs, especially as the boot one has gone. I have a blue LED in the interior light and I really am starting to hate it now.

Dude, www.ultraleds.co.uk

The codes you will need are as follows (if the bulbs are the same)

Interior light : U42CW6

Boot Light: U36W6

Number plate lights: U36W9

I think the interior and the boot light are the same, as for the number plate, just take the bulb out and measure it. Be aware that you want a 5w equivalent if the bulb I have specified isnt right :D

Cheers,

Alex

the ones in my sig are only show plates, only cars before a certain year are allowed to use these plates legally unfortunately!
at the moment i have pressed plates on the car, english font, yellow back and white front! still illegal tho :( but haven't been stopped yet!

got all four plates at E38 when dubmeister made me the wrong ones (yellow/white) when i asked for black/silver. they gave me both sets, no extra charge! although they did only give me one black plate at first
so me and Modified Madness made the long trek back to their tent and they posted the last one out to me!
