What is a good wax for Silver paint? I want to get the paste stuff rather than spray on stuff, No more than £20. I want to cover light swirl marks, and give a nice glossy wet look finish if possible.

I been looking at Meguires NXT Tech Wax paste, Is there anything better out there for my money. I've herd of makes such as Poorboys and Sonus.

I've never waxed before.

Cheers

Neil

there was a website with loads of good stuff, i can find it now? cleanmycar.com? something like that any ideas?

Lots of info about the products and how to get the best results from them.

Hope this helps.

P21S is a fantastic carnuba wax- easy to apply & remove with a wet look look
It's what I use and I'm a valeter

I think you can still get it on Ebay too from Serious Performance

The Meguiars Tech Wax is very good in liquid form (I haven't personally used the paste wax). It's good at hiding swirls and provides good protection.

I don't think there are any other Waxes that mask swirl marks. Otherwise, you can use something like Autoglym Super Resin Polish, which masks swirl marks, or a glaze. And that could be topped off with a good quality wax, such as Poorboy's Natty's wax or P21s as mentioned above.

Here's some good websites for detailing products:

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk- I recommend these guys; they're spot on :)

Cheers Guys. Cars going to be getting some TLC soon then. My dads got some super resin polish, so I'll get some of that on there first.

Should I apply polish in straight lines as opposed to circular motion?

Just have to decide between the P21S, Poor Boys, Or the Meguires NTX

Clean your car was the website I was looking for!

I've ordered some Collinite 476s from elite car care. If it arrives in time i'll give it a go at the weekend. Its suppose to be good on silver paint work.

Nice one 8)

The Collinite is meant to last for ages, too. I look forward to seeing the results.

Also, you should apply the polish and wax in a side-to-side motion.

And how is the Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover SSR1 - Light Abrasive.

Is that worth it, and would i use light abrasive on my paintwork, or medium or whatever.

I really need to get stuck into the detailing and proper looking after of the car! Especially over the summer!

I never stick to side to side motions - swirls can be inflicted either way.

Glaze is an oily product that gives the paint a nice gloss and should be applied before waxing.

TBH Phil you are very unlikely to remove swirls fully without a Porter Cable as VW paint is rock hard.

Yep, I'll send you a PM in a minute about the detail I did today, Phil 8)

Right, a glaze is a non-abrasive polish that is used to mask most imperfections (swirls, scratches etc). It's usually put on top of a freshly polished surface to enhance the gloss.

Personally, I wouldn't use an abrasive polish without the aid of a random orbit/orbital polisher. I feel like I would muck it up if I did it by hand.

*EDIT* Whoops, owned by the detailing master!

 cheers lads.

so can that be an important phase??

My paint isn't in the greatest condition. Think i'm going to get it to a detailer to get PC'd.

Anyways, so should it be.....polish, glaze, wax?? What about sealants and the rest? polish, glaze, wax, sealant? What else am i missing?
