Hi guys,

Does anyone know how to fit lowering springs on a gti and if it is easy enough for a novice mechanic like myself to do?

as far as i know you need a "compressor" to fit the springs, but i am not too sure on that - i'm sure others will be able to help who have had them done already

Yeah you need spring compressors to do it, other than that there's no other specialist stuff you need.

I lowered mine myself with the help of a friend. Relatively easy just be careful when you have the springs compressed as there's a lot of potential energy there!

You will still need your camber and tracking done by a proffessional.

Do you know how much all of this would roughly cost to get a garage to do all this if I supplied the springs?

ye its really easy actually, i was suprised how easy it was to fit coilovers, springs will be easier i think. like sed, u need compressers, the springs could go flying !! lol

i got quoted £180 to get mine fitted, so did it with a few mates lol

then payed £75+vat to get the camber sorted out

 Your joking?!
The hard part is fitting the stuff, you set the camber by the two strut bolts you have to tighten once the strut is fitted.
You just want 1 degree negitive.
