I been thinking of putting a TDi engine out of a MK4 Golf into my polo then perhaps then later tuning it to GT TDi standards  But I know nothing about engines etc so firstly would the engine fit, and secondly what would I need. I do know Im gonna need to upgrade the brakes. Any help will be appriciated, cheers.

right

firstly yes you can probably shoehorn one in provided the engine is not too tall.

secondly, the PD diesel engines have the following parts swapped and changed for different outputs:
-intercooler
-map
-turbo
-internals

If I was going to put one in it would be the final spec I wanted.

It's going to be quite an adventurous swap, i'll tell you that now! Also you'll need to fabricate a lot of your own parts - mounting brackets etc.

Is it something you'd want to do yourself? I suggest you do some serious research first!!

I dont have the first clue about it, so I was thinking of getting prices from garages to do the work TBH.

best alternative would be a mk4 ibiza FR Tdi, you'd probably spend the same and get a much more modern car for the ££££

Yeah it would be a lot of cash probably, and then for that extra bit more might as well buy a golf lol

but a PD polo would be (almost) unique. Personally I really like the idea of a mk2 golf with a PD150 or PD170 engine. Hubba!
