Post by ben3486 »

Mine doesnt work, never has since I got the car. Wondered which fuse it was as I've changed the bulb but still not working and I cant work out which fuse it is on.

Or if this is a common problem people have encoutered and theres usually another problem any help would be great!

cheers guys n gals!

That is Correct, It Should be the Small fuses and not the big Ones, As i said, Open it up, Top Row count 10 along, Little Brown Fuse, You'll be Able to tell if it's Went or Not, and fire a new One in, 7.5 Amp

Also Is your interior Light Working or Not, as when the fuse goes that light will not work either !

I have the same problem. Fuse is good, Bulb is brand new and tested.

Does anyone know where the switch is that tells the car the boot is open? Under the plastic flap?

I'm looking forward to my Haynes manual...

yeh the boot light is a common fault with mark 5s, mine came all there but not connected up, weird!! check under the carpet dwn the side of your passenger seat, i believe there is a connector there that won't be connected. hook it up and guess what starts working.....!!!!

Ill check that and let you know. Cheers.

I have tested the plug and it is receiving power though...

Am I right in thinking that a light on my dash should tell me if the boot is open? Also when I open the boot, the car automaticly locks it a few minutes after, then sets off the alarm.

Its almost like the car doesn't know the boot has been opened...

I went to the VW dealership today. A new boot light switch is about £6. But a hours labour is £95.50+VAT. And! £47.50 for a Diagnostic test. f**k that ill fix it myself. Shame ill have to get them to service it...
