Anyone looked into doing this?
Looking at using supercharger off a mini cooper S, nice and cheap for low mileage unit.

Any thoughts ideas guys?

I wouldn't reccomend it with the weak gearbox....get a 6 speed lupo gti engine and do it on that 8)

Plus the compression ratio is rather high on the GTi as standard, although there are ways round this.

fitting the 6 speed box in the polo isnt an easy job though is it?

Compression isnt a problem, low comp pistons would sort that out or thicker head gasket!

what gear box does the polo diesel use?

Its not possible to fit a 6 speed to the Polo GTI engine.
I think hes suggesting to use a Lupo engine and box.

I dont think you would get an Eton changer in the Polo bay.
I've been thinking about it for a while now.
I friend of mine has fitted one to his Lupo Sport.
180BHP

The Lupo boys seem much further ahead than us lot in terms of engine mods ;)

Most of the job was done by himself.
Only the wiring and mapping was completed by a third party :)

Yeah you get a lot of cheap MINI Eaton M45 superchargers on eBay from people doing the Works upgrade on the Cooper S. 6 on there at the minute that I saw.

Why has your box failed twice?
What has failed?
Did you replace the first one with a used one?
Did you get no warranty on the replacment box?
A recon box should come with 12 months warranty.

Are you sure its not the way you drive?

I think the only way around the gearbox problem is putting in a whole new engine and gearbox which is obviously going to be an expensive job. When my gearbox goes (which I'm sure it will), it might be something I'd consider if I have the money.

hah na its not the way i drive im sure, havent had any problems before!

the first one was replaced by VW with a re-con box and come with a warranty so yes its down VW at the moment being fixed for free which is quite nice!!
surely it cant be affected by my engine mods? im only running with and xtra 15horses to standard!

there are no brand new boxes available so you can only get re-cons.
ye thats the problem i love my car so much i dont realy want to drive anything else and also my age means im limited to what i can get insured on.

I cant see extra power effecting it.
The Lupo GTI also suffers from Gearbox problems, the selector shaft is not veruy strong.
Non GTIs, and Polo GTIs have other problems.
The release bearing/imput shaft housing isnt very strong.

But what failed on your gearbox the first time?
