Does the Polo GTi have an inherent gearbox problem?

Hi all,

My sister has a W plate GTi polo. Very nice it is too :)

She has had problems with what VW thought was the clutch. It stutters a lot in 1st and 2nd gear, and sometimes the revs wont drop etc. They fitted a new clutch, and the problem seemed to get better for a bit. Its now undriveable as it wont engage... Ill get some better detail of the problems later.

Ideally id like to go back to VW with some ammo. I cant think they will accept that a 3 year old car has a knackered gearbox. Or maybe not knowing them...

Help appreciated.

Yes, the gearboxes on GTIs are weak.

I don't own one or have personal experiences with them but I know someone who had one fail on his GTI and VW didn't pay up due to it not being serviced at a VW dealer.

Ta for that,

VW have decided to cough up :) Its something to do with the linkage, not disengaging the clutch? Want to have a look myself.
