FK Coilovers Questions....

As above... Been lookin around for cheap coilovers for my polo 6N (Late 1999 5Dr) for ages and cheapest and easiest to get hold of is still FK ak stuff.... Anybody have any experience with them, what do you think of them??? Any alternatives similarly priced / quality???

I was thinkin about fitting it myself... I done a search and a few peolpe said its quite easy so I might give it a go....
Any body wanna tell me what it involves or what to watch out for?? Is it a job that someone mechanically minded (but has done sweet fup all) would be able to do???

I just have 1 more question.... Iv had my polo lowered 40mm with apex springs on borbet type T's for over a year and a half now and have buckled a wheel four times from hittin potholes (roads are really bad around here and I travel alot)... will coilovers make this an even more regular occurance as it will be stiffer??

Would anybody suggest a 60mm drop on springs and shocks over coilovers???

Any help would be great cheers!

Cliff

i knew a guy who had FK AK coilovers and they were pretty good comfort wise, but after about 14 months he noticed alot of corrosion around the damper and so he went to get it checked out at a garage, and they said that the damper was 'on its way out!'
he went on to buy Avo coilovers and has them still now (unless he sold his car?)

hope that helps, i mean im not saying all AK coilovers will do this but i suppose you get what you pay for.
just don't drive the car when they are out gritting the roads!

my g/f has FK Highsports on her 6n and i must admit the ride is very good quality! not that harsh at all! and they've been on the car for about 3 years and haven't seized at all as far as i'm aware!
i have FK Konigsports (the ones with adjustable damping) on my Ibiza and they are brilliant, the ride at first was identical to non coilovered car but i set the front dampers to hard to help with some scrubbing issues.

Thanks...
You see id probably have to go for the AK stuff as the highsports an konigsports are so much dearer (nearly twice the price)... I heard that the ak is of lesser quality than these two as it is made by a different company under the FK brand...Its good tho know that the other two are goo tho thanks....

Anybody have AK coilovers and wanna vouch for them???

I'm drivin' a FK AK coilover set, been doin' it for over 2 years now, still the suspension is as stiff as my c*ck during my first time ;)

Easy fitting, good quality, I recommand them
