Rear Anti Roll Bar (Now with Pics)

Hi

Does anybody know if a rear anti roll bar can be fitted to a 6N2 GTi

I have been told that one for an Ibiza (mk3 i think?), will fit, as they are the same chassis as the 6n/2. This is a mod. I intend to do at some point, but to be honest have not got round to investigating it further. I believe there is a whiteline rear ARB for the Ibiza which is around £100, and rear ARB's are usually an easy DIY fit, with just brackets to attach to the rear beam and new bolts to connect through the rear shock housings.

I keep meaning to add a thread on club polo asking if any 6n/2 owners have fitted one and been pleased with the benefits. Normally it is the rear ARB that makes the most difference to a FWD car. It certainly did when I fitted Neuspeed rear ARB's to both my Bora and my Passat.

Please let me know if you do any further research and find out anything else, I just don't have the time at the moment.

Thanks pal. Yup it will make big difference to the Polo. The rear axle seems really soft and so flexs abit much around corners. ARB will sort that.

That is the one I was looking at. I wanted to try and find a picture or some more info from an Ibiza forum to see how it is secured so I could compare check in comparison to the rear of the polo, but haven't had a chance.

Whiteline make fixed and adjustable ARB's (4 settings, similar to Neuspeed), and I'm also not sure which variety that would be.

Julian who runs Balance is pretty knowledgeable, I bought my Bilstein's from him, although only a one man band, and products are shipped direct from the manufacturer/distributor, rather than him holding any stock.

Hmm what we need is ETOS or ETKA software to compare the Ibiza axle to ours. If they match, there is no reason why the anitroll bar wont fit.

I'd also be interested in this. With two strut braces at the front, it would make sense for me to have a rear ARB to balance it out

A rear ARB will if anything balance out the understeer created by the front ARB. The front strut braces will have a minimal impact compared to either ARB, and don't as such need any 'balancing'.

Ok. I was thinking in terms of what people had said in the past, about it being a little stiff at the front with two strut braces. Is it still worthwhile to have?

Funnily enough 02 Bora on the above thread is me. Those are pictures I took when I fitted the Neuspeed bar to my Bora. I did a complete install write up at the time.

From my experience I would even say that even a 25mm bar maybe too thick, I would have thought something in the region of 22mm would be the best thickness for the Polo. 28mm would definately be overkill on the 6n/2 chassis and would enduce way too much oversteer.
