Getting a new clutch fitted soon, and the garage reckons that LUK are just the same if not better than SACHS .

Whats your opinion?

the only reason i voted for sachs is because i have just had it installed today - i will collect the car later on and post tomorrow as to how i think it is. Never heard of LUK sorry

I had the OEM clutch installed when my old one expired. The guy who fitted it did a great job and it is not heavy or awkward in any way. I presume LUK is the OEM option?

The reason I'm asking is I got my sachs clutch kit put in with the reconditioned gearbox and now I want to get my original gearbox back in (long story).

The gearbox needs to be removed to gain access to the clutch. But is not actually inside the gear box but rather between the engine block and the gearbox.

Got my sachs clutch kit installed a few days ago - it has to be said i'm over the moon with it i'd definately recommend it 100%

Cheers man, My garage 'Volksentre' a VAG specialist is really pushing me to use the LUK clutch, god knows why, but they claim they have fitted these hundreds of times and never had anyone come back with problems.

I used to work for LUK.
I made the ulta large tractor clutches!

LUK makes most of the aftermarket clutches for the UK market.
Buy a clutch from Euro car parts, or GSF chances are it'll be made by LUK.

Edit.
Sorry, forgot to add, theres not a lot in it.
LUK clutch should be cheaper.
But will be cheaper for the dealer to buy (they'll buy a lot of them so will make more money selling it to you!)

Just make sure you call ECP and GFS to ask for a price from then before you give the dealer the go-ahead.
It will be the same part, but much cheaper.

Just so you know with regards to pricing - I was charged Â£92 for the sachs clutch kit plus v.a.t.
