I fitted a S3 Green inguction kit to my car tonight (pics Below)
1st question: I removed the top cover of the air box and removed the standard filter and placed on the new one. Now that the top cover is removed to you think it will be ok that i am loosing cool air as some will escape?
2nd question: I knew that i would hear the woooosh when i fitted the kit but it only happens sometimes, i cant undestand how am gettin the woooosh??? and why i dont get it everytime i change gear??? itsthe standard re-circ dump valve so wht the woooosh? p.s is it good for my car the change?

In the last pic, the hose circled red can some1 tell me what its for, think its , ma air con? if so is ok to stay there instead of connected to the filter, dont use ma air con[/img]

Why don't you use your air con? I couldn't live with out it!
And I've also heard that it damages the system to not use it - so while I can't comment on your filter damaging the car, not using the AC could be.

1 - you will lose out on cold air mate - you will get heak soak from the induction kit - your better off with a decent panel filter, keeping the standard box and getting a 160PD intake - this was proven to me when it was on the rollers at awesome and i was losing power rather than gaining.
2 - the whooshing sound is the re-circ doing its job, should be hearing more of the dump - i have a forge re-circ on mine and it did it when i had my induction kit on - it sounded good, but it got annoying haha
3 - the pipe is a breather pipe (so ive been told) that normally goes back into the system, if you are leaving it like that (with the induction kit on) you best to get a seperate breather for it
hope this helps

Thanks for the comments guys.
Think am gonna buy the pd160 intake kit, then remove the bottom half of ma airbox and connect the intake hose directly onto my induction somehow so i have no loss of air, will probably need to extend the hose, will also do the same for the breather hose to b on the safe side.
will i be able to get the parts at ma local seat dealer. Will they stock it or order it in???
ps is it ok to have the woooosh noise comin from ma engine??? hope am not puttin it under anymore strain???
cheers

your gonna be far far better off simply chucking the cone filter for a pd 160 intake and intake trumpet and a green pannel filter
that way youll get no warm air in it, so no heat soak and no induction noise increase

Agree with the above, there is not much room in the engine bay for a cold air feed to the cone filter. I have the PD160 intake with a K+N panel filter and have no problems with power loss or noise.

Dont know if its an item they keep on the shelf, if not it only takes a day or 2 for dealers to get parts in. I got mine from vagparts.com.
Part numbers for both trumpet and pipe
6LL 129 621 - Trumpet
6LL 129 618 - Pipe

That is not a breather pipe, that is the inlet for the secondary air pump system which blows hot air into the eigne during startup to help the cat heat up - you NEED a filter on it!
Get your airbox back on, fit a panel filter and the TDI intake.
Open element filters like that are utter crap and suck nothing but HOT air.

The part number for the K+N filter your require is 33-2830
Also fits Skoda Fabia VRS and SEAT Ibiza's. Dont know part numbers for any other brands of cotton panel filters.
Try these guys, cheaper if you by the one for the Skoda Fabia (£35.97+pn'p) rather than the same part number for equivelant VW (£38.37+pn'p).

thanks for the help! i'll order it today.
you can get the pd160 from a seat dealer - i found that to be the easiest, as then you can go and pick it up (saves postage costs and time), and usually they have it on shelf!

Oh I forgot to say how much
It worked out to be £32 total, 12 for the tube, and 20 for the airbox - it might be the other way round, but you need both anyway.
