I suggest you check, if it hasn't been done then I really recommend you get it done ASAP. It may also be referred to as a Timing Belt.

Have you got a Haynes manual? If you're handy with a spanner it's a couple of hours work, but you have to be careful to make sure the crank and cam stay in time.

I don't think it will make any difference to the problems you've described, but if it fails you'll find yourself in a whole new world of problems.

LOL!!!!

i think its safe to say:
We all love our polos... yet, they never seem to amaze us with their high maintaince...

it seems like everytime i look at my polo.. i spot something else i need to fix or change!!!!!

WHEN WILL IT STOP???

to be fair a cambelt is a service item.

i feel for you though, i've been ranting about the same thing on seatcupra.net

since january, i've done the following

2x front wheel bearings
2x front tie rod ends
2x ball joints
1x new hub
1x upright
2x front ABS sensor
Front brake discs + pads
New radiator

Yesterday i put on 4 new goodyear eagle F1's and 7 hours later the clutch pedal snapped. bloomin great.

and yet ive ragged my car daily and had no problems...if i keep saying that it might come true :P

One drive shaft and it needs a new thermostat. Seems to be stuck open i think so im not worried to much lol.

Where in London are you mate? If its near oval then i know a place thats good i just dont know how much hed charge. Id ask him now but its a bit late, plus if your two far away itd be pointless anyway i shud think.

threw a freind of a freind.. iv found a place in my area that can do it for astonishing £190... much better than the £600 sg smith quoted me. Anyway.. iv got to check it includes labour.

If it turns out to be mucht more.. i might take you up on the offer at oval.. however it is about 45 mins away from me.. so getting back home with out a car is gona be annoying.

Let me check out this place in my area.. and then i will get back to you if i need.

Safe.

As for the amp draining problem, make sure your amp is turning off when the radio is off. There may be a short on the remote wire - worth a check!

You dont need another battery as long as your amp is wired up correctly to your head unit via the remote wire, so the amp wont stay on when the head unit is turned off.

yeah.. its all hooked up fine..

i worked out part of the problem today... the oil was incredibly low. and the exhaust was rattling as it was not clipped into the rubber part properly!
