Right lads, thought i'd start another topic due to the other being about something else.

Problem I have is, my mk4 6N 16v has a set of keys...

The engine i'm fitting is the 1.6 16v which has the ECU, loom, transponder and key too...

My question is:

Are the ignition switches between the mk4 and mk5 the same, and what would you recommend??

Right now i'm thinking of taping the GTI key permanently to the transponder so the engine will start with my old keys turning the ignition switch...
Does anyone know if this ecu can be mapped to bypass the immobilisor???

if i've asked this question in a wierd way just ask lol.

Basically i have my mk4 ignition switch and that has two origional keys from when it used to be a 1.4 16v.

The new engine i have has the key and transponder as well as the ecu, so these all talk to each other...my problem is, the key and transponder ring don't fit my mk4 ignition switch.
So how do i get round this??

1.) buy a new ignition switch with key...and have it coded to match my transponder, or how does this coding thing work??

2.) tape the key and transponder together inside my steering cowling and just rewire my ignition switch so it starts the engine without a problem...

Obviously i do have a cat 1...so it'll still have an immobilisor setup. :)
