Hi, first off great site, I have enjoyed reading through some of the posts on here and they have been very helpful.

My girlfiriends '03 1.2S MK6 is suffering from the well documented rear wash wiper failure. I am adament that the pipe has become unattached at some point as there is a pool of water under the car.

I have chased up the pipe but I am only able to access the section by the ECU unit, this was unattached so I reconnected it but this did not sort it. I then unattached it to see if water was flowing to this point but it was still dry after pressing the stalk.

In the pic I have show the part that was disconnected.

The pipe then runs under the battery and comes out the other side, at this point though there are quite a few connectors to lights and a few other gubbins. Shown here:

I am convinced there is a break between the reservoir and the section of pipe in the first pic.


My question is how can i get at this section, some of the search results said to remove the airbox however I can't see this helping me get at the section I want to. Can i take the nearside front wheel inner off to get at these bits or is there an easier way?

I was considering taking out the battery to get at the pipe but I thought id post here first.

I had the same problem on my wifes car.
Clipped that section back togethetr 3 times and still in came apart.
Ended up using a dab of superglue

Hope you get it fixed as it was a right PITA to sort.

However it seems that join in the first pic is staying dry as if the pipe has come out elsewhere.

Do you know where abouts the pipe joins the washer bottle? The reason I ask this is because when you push the stalk there is a pool of water under the car leaking from the front corner.

If it was still under warranty I would be first to take it to the dealer, but I was trying to avoid this. Are there any rescources for the assembly drawings of these polos? like the realoem.com for BMW's.

As a design engineer this is a stupid execution of a washer pipe. It is miles cheaper to extrude the pipe in one go than have it built in sections and paying someone to assemble it.

The pipe does go through the wing near to where you showed in your first picture.
It the goes down inside the inner wheel arch to the pump.

You can access the pump by removing the plastic screws holding the plastic tray and wheel arch liner-it is at the lowest part of the liner-inside front bumper..
You can just about get a look and a hand onto the pump.
Two connections are on this-one for front and one for the rear.

Thanks alot ill give this ago this week. I don'tknow why they had to put the washer bottle in such a stupid place, in the mk 4's (which i had 2 of) it was just behind the battery in both 1 litre and 1.4.
It is as if they had tried to make the engine bay as big as possible. Maybe they were planning on putting the W16 unit in from the Veyron.

As seen in the pic it had simply come loose. I reattched it and put the arch back on. Simple job just required a torx 20 screwdriver.

It was still leaking under the ECU so i got a pair of pliers and crimped the male to female connection together.

And now its sorted. Thanks for the input!
