Honestly ET 35 is the best for it. Polos can handle 35-45, some will tell you stick 25's on but the other problems that causes... bearings and the like. I have ET25 7.5" wide wheels on at the moment, and Im going back to 35 7" because im scrubbing even though im only lowered 40mm and my bearings are gonna give up on me.

Up to yourself in the end though.

I'm about to fit some 25's, is that going to cause me problems then?

I really dont wanna tell people what to do, ive been cut off by people saying ah it'll be grand before, but honestly It depends on loads of stuff.

ET 25mm on a 7inch wheel wont rub (much) but will eventually f*ck your bearings!

7.5 - 9 inches will scrub like crazy, and nacker your bearings.

you should have between 35mm and 45mm, and the most strain a bearing can take is about 6mm outside and at that they wont last as long as they should.

There was a wide BBS wheel that had an ET of 32 or 37, cant remember which one but thats perfect for a Polo.

Its up to yourself in the end, but at least someone's told you about the problem's and not just how cool it looks. I did it, f*cked my bearings and couldnt go any lower than 40mm!!

Mine are on now, they do scrub a little but only with people sitting in the back or if I take a corner too quick. Had no idea about the bearings til now though - does it just mean I'll need to replace them more often then?

Basically yeah, be thankful they cost £12 each lol! (if you know how to change them yourself that is)

I bought a set of G60 steel wheels to sort that problem out 8)

What you could try actually (and I got this from a good friend who happens to be a mechanic) is ask around and see if any other VW bearings will fit the 6n2, preferably from a diesel as theyre made to take extra strain!
Polo bearings are like butter :(

PS: how wide are your wheels? what did ya buy? Borbet's?
anything 7" or under shouldnt scrub too badly. I went half an inch over that. Its crazy, theres guys running 8 and 9 inchers who swear they have no problems, guess you can just get lucky sometimes.

Nah you should be fine bryony, i think i'm like 19 or 24 on an 8" rim, and i'm ok.....can only take me and 2 passengers though and even then it rubs like f**k!! I need to get my arches done!

Mine does scrub if i got round corners too hard or if I have people in the back and go over big bumps but its not too bad, will probably get my arches done though - looks like it might be quite hard to do on the Polo though!
