polo-gods, does anyone have any suggestions on what VAG kit you can fit on your standard mk5 polo to upgrade the front brakes?

... has anyone done a 280mm upgrade? if so, which calipers & carriers did you use? just wondering if there is a direct fit from other VAG cars

e.g. G60?

To fit the 280mm brakes from the G60 you need to have 15" wheels to clear the brakes. It depends on what size brakes you have to start with, if its the 256mm then you only really need the 280mm discs and the caliper carriers from the G60 [and probably get new pads whilst you're at it]. I'm not sure what else you'd need if you have smaller than the 256mm brakes.

wheels are not a problem, im running 15's anyway. thing is, its bog standard, tiny 239mm discs.

i know the easy route was to get the 256mm GTi setup w/c is definitely a bolt-on fitment, but i was thinking of going one higher... thus 280mm!

will the carriers from the G60 be a straight fit without modifications?

thanks steve.

You need hub carriers from a gti in order to use the gti (256) caliper carriers or the g60 caliper carriers. Hub carriers are only available from vw (or 2nd hand) and will cost you a couple hundred each side at a guess. Your car does not have seperate caliper carriers, thus they cannot be changed for the bigger items.
