intermittantly i also loose power and if i accelerate nothing happerns.if i turn the ignition off / on the power comes back.(safe mode i think)
does anyone have any idea as this is doing my nut in?
cheers .

You should get a vag-com plugged in and see what the crack is..

Sounds like there is a problem with the EGR not working properly,

By default the engine puts some exhaust gasses back into the air intake

Does anyone know what to suggest as I don't ??

checked all the hoses and all seem to be ok,no splits or holes in them.might it be the valve itself?

after about a year now and no fix i decided to take the egr valve out and clean all the carbon, gunk and slime out to no result.
so booked it into my local vw dealer to get it on the diagnostic as i was sick as f**k and could no longer look at the emmisions warning lamp.
out of curiousity i
had a look again at the hoses that go from the egr valve to the black box to the left of it.noticed that one of the hoses (the ribbed one)had been rubbing against a pipe resulting in 3 small holes.
taped up and the jobs a good un.
1.emmisions warning lamp has gone off.
2.car goes like s**t off a stick especially in second.
3.saved myself 60 notes from not going to vw tomorrow 29.8.07.
4.the turbo seems to whistle louder.
5.one big smile on my face. :P
