Wiring !

Right was gonna Finally Wire up my speakers to my amp, as i couldn't be assed before, altho i take of the plugs in the side of the door, and there an actual connector, so no running wire's through !
I dont really wanna be Drilling through the Body work of the car at all, although i have thought of finding the wire's which run the speaker cable to the connector before the door and just solder the New speaker cable onto that, But then i dont reckon i'd get the same quality of sound etc !
So my Question to the ppl that Understand the above is how have you done yours ! and if there is any pics or how to's, that would help !

Hey Ian,
I think i removed the connector on my speakers and put in some bullet connectors

Nope its not the speakers i need to worry about mate, its running the cable from the speaker through the door to inside the car, there is a connector from door to body that is a plug ! and the only way to do this is to either drill the body or the soldering way, to me thats all i can see, hopefully there is another safe way !

I completely rewired my doors - no drilling required. If you havent got central locking, there is a hole where the pipe would pass through in the multipin connector from the door - you can push new wires through this with no problems at all.
It is possible to use the exisiting wiring and just cut it on the body side, but either way the underside of the dash would have to be taken off. The cable runs into connectors and it joins in the multipin against the body - luckily they are the same colour on the car side of the connector.

yeah i know the dash on the underside will need taking out, i have central locking so that rout is out the window, hmmmmmmmm anyone else !

Well there is another option

If you do have central locking you can drill through a blank area in the multipin. Most cars have some wiring spaces left to use so thats an ooption you could take that route

yeah had a look, dont look like theres much room tobe honest, i've posted up on an other couple of forums, so see what happens, as i cant imagine that all the installs out there in the Mk5 Polo's have drilled the body work lol

I wouldnt even go near drilling the body work. Its dodgy to do can cause rust and all sorts. Best bet would be to use the exisiting wiring and cut it off on the car side.

i know, body work is not something i like to touch, Hmmm i've been told soldering the wires before the plug goes out to the door is a good option and wont loose to much sound quality !

That should work fine - as long as you get a good join that is. Easier option may be to crimp it - nothing to melt then hehe. The VW wire is quite thick and appears to be of acceptable quality anyhow.

Hm we'll i shall see what happens, want my tunage crisper and louder, out my amp, although the pioneer amp in the HU does alright lol

Out the amp does make a pleasant difference - i havent got a sub in mine, so i rely on the fronts to give me bass
