My friend the other week put a vw cd player underneath the standard tape player and gave me the space/shelf din cubby which sits underneath the tape headunit as I required a new one because mine is knackered

quick question and it sounds a bit ignorant...

how do I remove the old one? I got the headunit out no worries but im not sure how to remove the old DIN shelf and replace it with another one

Thanks

Oh right easy as that
It looks like it is clipped in at the back. I didnt wanna go and just pull it and damage part of the dash. I suppose as long as your careful then it should be fine

try removing the cd player firs you might find the grill thing that holds the cd player in is catching it

Yeah thats what I done. removed the cd player and the grill whcih surrounds it

Perhaps I am just being weak :P ha! it felt quite locked in though and on my replacement one it looks like theres a clip on the back which obviously locks when it goes in I am guessing

Did yours litterally just slide out then?

yup it does so....

if you have a replacement one i would just use force n rip it out :P

yeah good point lol i dont wanna do any main damage to the centre console itself but I would guess it would just work itself free if I used some force lol
